What it's All About

One of my purposes of writing this blog is to share what I know about Jesus Christ. Hopefully knowing that I know will help bless the life of someone out there. In the Book of Mormon both Lehi and Nephi see a vision of the tree of life. Elder Neal A. Maxwell taught:

“The tree of life … is the love of God (see 1 Ne. 11:25). The love of God for His children is most profoundly expressed in His gift of Jesus as our Redeemer: ‘God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son’ (John 3:16). To partake of the love of God is to partake of Jesus’ Atonement and the emancipations and joys which it can bring” (“Lessons from Laman and Lemuel,” Ensign, Nov. 1999).

When he sees this vision Nephi is then shown the future and all that will happen. Some of it seemed troublesome. These troubles reminded me of something Gordon B. Hinckley said:

"We know not what the coming days will bring. We live in a world of uncertainty. For some, there will be great accomplishment. For others, disappointment. For some, much of rejoicing and gladness, good health, and gracious living. For others, perhaps sickness and a measure of sorrow. We do not know. But one thing we do know. Like the polar star in the heavens, regardless of what the future holds, there stands the Redeemer of the world, the Son of God, certain and sure as the anchor of our immortal lives. He is the rock of our salvation, our strength, our comfort, the very focus of our faith." ("We Look to Christ," Ensign, May, 2002)

As we go about our lives I know that if we do keep our focus on Christ and follow him that we can experience comfort and peace in our troubles. I know that he will strengthen us in our lives that we can accomplish what the Lord would have us do.

I know this the same way Nephi learned this, by asking God and diligently seeking to know. If we do ask God, and make an effort to know, he will make it known to us as he did to those in ancient times. It is the promise of the Book of Mormon and my promise to you that if you ask with a sincere heart that you will be able to learn this for yourself by the power of the Holy Ghost.

If you have the time, here is a video that I recommend you watch saying what I am trying to say. But much more eloquently.
